National Carrier Nauru Airlines Gateway to the World for Pacific Nation
Having a national carrier with a seven-strong fleet of aircraft is one of Nauru’s proudest achievements.

As its gateway to the outside world, Nauru Airlines is a true local icon which keeps the nation connected to the people, goods and services it needs to thrive.
Its 12,000 residents depend on the national carrier for travel to schools and health care in Australia and Fiji, importing necessities, and staying connected with nearby Pacific nations.
The airline is also an important source of employment for Nauruans, employing 100 people in what are always highly sought after jobs.
Captain Vodrick Detsiogo is a long serving pilot with Nauru Airlines, having completed 35 years of service with the airline since joining its ranks in 1990.
Captain Detsiogo has clocked up hundreds of thousands of kilometres in the cockpit, fulfilling his lifelong ambition of becoming a commercial pilot which, which he formed in what he describes as “the golden age of glamourous air travel in the 1960s and 1970s.”
He says one of the most appealing parts of the job is connecting with other cultures including the Pacific neighbours it services, such as Kiritimati-Christmas Island, Maduro, Palau-Koror Airai, Pohnpei and Tarawa.
While Nauru Airlines has a fleet of only seven, it punches well above its weight, providing direct access to the Australian mainland with three flights a week to Brisbane and with dedicated freighter aircraft that keep the island well-supplied with essentials.
CEO Robert Eoe, also a former pilot at the airline, says Nauruans have “an enduring love for the airline, and Nauru would not be the same without it”.
Cabin crew member Vikki says Nauru Airlines represents and upholds the reputation of the national carrier, both at home and abroad.
“Working for Nauru Airlines means being a proud ambassador of our island nation, representing its culture, hospitality and values to the world,” she said.
“Being part of the airline is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, travel to exciting destinations and develop life-long skills.”
